Sweet Potato Chilli Bites

Turmeric has the ability to control inflammation, the curcumin it contains has been shown to have many health benefits and prevent diseases. Combining turmeric with black pepper has been shown to increase absorption.


Ingredients (Makes 16 , 4 balls allowed as a snack)

  • 200 g chickpeas

  • 200 g chopped sweet potato

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

  • ½ finely chopped onion

  • 2 crushed garlic cloves

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 ½ tsp finely chopped red chilli

  • Juice of ½ lemon

  • 2 tbsp tahini

  • 30 g chopped coriander leaves

  • Pinch of pepper


Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Steam the sweet potato for about 15 minutes until soft. 

Meanwhile heat the oil in a frying pan and gently fry the onion and garlic until soft. Add the turmeric, cumin and chilly and fry for 2 minutes. 

Put the chickpeas, sweet potato, lemon juice, tahini and coriander in a food processor and blend for about 10 seconds to rough it all up. Don’t over blend, you need a rough texture. 

Tip the contents into a big bowl and add the onion mixture. Season with salt and pepper. Stir well. 

Divide the mixture into 16 portions and roll into balls with your hands. Bake for 20 minutes. Can be eaten hot or cold.
